Can dhs take our son if we tell them we are homeless?

I have a toddler and am 36 weeks pregnant. my mil is a hoarder. in the process of trying to clean to make a safe space for the new baby (we were living with them because it kept our bills low and helped them with theirs) she snapped tried to push me out a door and kicked me out. We are staying with family sleeping on the couch right now and there is a government program that can help us with the money we need to find a apt but we have to tell them we are homeless (no family couch even!) and im terrified they will take my son if I do. But we cant stay here forever and anyday now there will be a new baby as well what do I do
