Disposal of American flags?

as far as the toothpicks and little flags like that, just throw them in the trash. as for a cloth flag, there is a "proper" way to dispose of it. it should be burnt while taps is playing. but if you have no way of doing that, just take it to your nearest VFW post and let them decide what to do with it.
